CoST encourages the relationship with CABEI through infrastructure transparency training

In February, CoST, the Infrastructure Transparency Initiative, delivered a training on transparency in infrastructure projects to the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), in which 244 members of the institution’s staff participated, including its Executive President, Gisela Sánchez.

The training was carried out in the framework of a series of approaches between both institutions that have followed, among others, in the development of the webinar “Promoting the Private Sector through Transparency”, celebrated in the first quarter of 2024, as well as several meetings to explore lines of joint work.

Evelyn Hernández, Head of Members and Affiliates and Manuel González, Regional Manager for Latin America participated in this meeting on behalf of CoST International, who gave a masterclass on the benefits of transparency and the possibility of strengthening CABEI’s work within the framework of its Access to Information Policy.

The CABEI Executive President emphasized that this approach with CoST responds to the Institution’s interest in strengthening the Bank’s transparency, accountability, openness and, above all, in promoting the best use of public funds in member countries.

CoST members emphasized the range of opportunities that arise from promoting synergies between governments, the private sector, civil society, beneficiary citizens, and multilaterals in order to strengthen development results through transparency.

The CABEI has been in operation for more than 63 years, has 15 member countries and is the multilateral institution that provides the largest amount of resources to the Central American region.

Given its reach and impact, CoST plans to continue implementing more actions to link with the Bank, including the planning of other activities for Transparency and Access to Information Month in September 2024, an initiative promoted by CABEI to disseminate knowledge in the context of the International Day for Universal Access to Information.
