CoST board welcomes engineering expert and private sector representative, James N. Mwangi

CoST is delighted to welcome James N. Mwangi to the board, replacing Gavin English as international private sector representative.

James is the CEO of Kurrent Technologies Ltd, a Consultancy firm that serves East and Central Africa, and a Vice President of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). He has almost 40 years of experience in energy, oil and gas sectors including at the Kenya Private Sector Alliance, Petroleum Institute of East Africa and Energy Institute. James is also a fellow in the institution of engineers of Kenya (IEK). More information about him can be found in his biography

Petter Matthews, Executive Director of CoST, said: “James has a wealth of experience and his detailed knowledge of infrastructure, and particularly, the corruption risks faced by the private sector, makes him a tremendous asset to the board. FIDIC is an important strategic partner and James will further strengthen the relationship between the two organisations.”

We’re also grateful to our departing board member, Gavin English for his exceptional contribution to the CoST Board over the past five years. CoST Chair Chrik Poortman said: “Gavin was an extremely competent and diligent representative of the private sector. He was also unfailingly likeable and good-humored, and he will be missed by everyone involved in CoST.”

James joins CoST as we begin the development of a new Business Plan for the period 2025-2026. We are hugely ambitious, and he will help us develop a plan to translate that ambition into achievable objectives, remaining true to our principles, whilst realising them in an increasingly challenging global environment.
