Dr Evelyn Hernández, CoST’s Head of Members, highlighted our work in sustainable infrastructure today on a panel on “Regulatory frameworks for sustainable infrastructure as a tool for climate adaptation” in a GIZ-sponsored event. This included showcasing CoST’s new tools, including our sustainability and climate finance data standards to the over 200 people in attendance.
The event explored questions vital to CoST’s work, such as the role of international treaties like the Sustainable Development Goals, frameworks for sustainable and climate infrastructure governance and the challenges that exist in implementing environmental regulations.
During this event, Evelyn talked about:
– the importance of data standards in supporting a regulatory approach for sustainable infrastructure;
– how our CoST’s new sustainability and climate finance data standards support international treaties like SDGs and the Paris Agreement;
– the application of CoST’s approach to help navigate challenges that exist in environmental regulations.
Today’s was session a closed event aimed at staff from Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) that are full and associate members of the Organization of Latin American and Caribbean Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS). “Dialogues” is an initiative for Latin America under the AdaptaInfra OLACEFS-GIZ Project, which aims to strengthen the planning and oversight of sustainable infrastructure.
The event featured the participation of Dr Camilo Benítez, Comptroller General of the Republic of Paraguay and President of OLACEFS, and Mr Jochen Quinten, Country Director of GIZ in Brazil, who delivered the opening remarks. Alongside Dr Hernández, Dr Hugo Martínez, Director General of Public Works Oversight at the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Paraguay, also joined as a panellist.
