CoST Chair visits Thailand to mark 10 year anniversary as a CoST member

Today on 10th September 2025, CoST’s new Chair Rajiv Lall visited Thailand to celebrate their progress of successfully implementing the CoST approach over the past 10 years.

Thailand joined CoST in 2015. Since then they have published data on 7,118 public infrastructure projects on their website for the public to view, which has just over 100,000 views since it was updated last year. The Comptroller General’s Office have also reported budget savings of 8.45% due to the deterrence impact of the CoST approach.

The visit began with a visit to the Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute of Ramathibodi Hospital, Bangkok to see how the state of the art teaching facility was built and monitored to ensure it was built efficiently and to a high quality, including being one of the projects Thailand selected to independently review as per the CoST approach.

Next Rajiv and CoST’s Head of Advocacy and Communications, Justine Wharton, met with Mr Prayong Hirunyawanich, Executive member of Anti-Corruption Thailand (ACT) and former Chair of the CoST Thailand Multi-Stakeholder Group, CoST Board member Kittidej Chantangkul and CoST Thailand Manager, Chanon Chamnankit to discuss the role of the civil society and the Multi-Stakeholder Group in delivering the CoST approach. The day finished with a meeting with senior officials from the Royal Thai Government including Mrs Pattaraporn Vorasaph, Comptroller-General’s advisor on fiscal and financial development and Ms Nitiyaporn Imjai, MSG Secretary and Director of Public Procurement Cooperation & Transparency Division, to discuss their learning so far and future ambitions to grow the CoST approach further.

Tomorrow, the visit will continue with meeting members of the private sector and civil society representation on the CoST Thailand Multi-Stakeholder Group, along with Mr Banyong Pongpanich, a reverent anti-corruption and CoST champion. The visit will cumulate with a meeting with the Governor of Bangkok to hear of his support for the CoST approach.
