Today, CoST Africa Regional Manager & Learning Lead, Olive Kabatwairwe, is speaking about collective action in ensuring quality infrastructure at the Conference on “Strategic Approaches to Combating Corruption” in Côte d’Ivoire. This event is being ran by High Authority for Good Governance, the main anti-corruption body for Côte d’Ivoire.
In the session on “Collective Action to Enhance the Effectiveness of the Fight Against Corruption”. Olive will showcase the impact of CoST members, including Costa Rica, Uganda, Malawi and Guatemala. This includes highlighting the use of the Infrastructure Transparency Index, data publication to support healthcare and environmental protection, millions of dollars in savings, and civic engagement.
Other panellists include the International Anti-Corruption Academy; Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, Open Government Partnership and the Directorate General of Customs, Cote d’Ivoire. They will be speaking about collective action from different angles including principles of collective action, preventing corruption and regional and international best practice.
The Basel Institute on Governance defines Collective Action as “multi-stakeholder collaboration to achieve shared goals.” CoST and its members have highlighted how vital collective action is, through events, and winning awards, as well as through the essential role that multi-stakeholder working plays in our approach. CoST and its members have also demonstrated the importance of anti-corruption, including during Anti-Corruption Day last year.
