The CoST social accountability feature helps ensure that the data disclosed and turned into compelling information during the assurance process is used by the media, civil society and others such as academia, infrastructure monitors and ordinary citizens.
Our guidance emphasises the different tried and proven effective ways to heighten accountability in different contexts, using CoST member experience to do so. It offers practical steps to effectively design a social accountability strategy, including identifying the audience, tools and messages to engage stakeholders and monitoring progress throughout delivery. Useful tips on training different actors are provided and by showcasing the different approaches which have delivered change, members and others are given good insight into what could work in their contexts.
