CoST has published a new resource on data use and updated an existing resource on data publication. These free, accessible resources will support anyone looking to drive change by using infrastructure data to save money and transform lives.
The Data Use Manual provides guidance on using infrastructure data to improve monitoring, reporting, and decision-making processes by interpreting data. This resource also provides practical examples across various areas, including project phases and risk areas. The manual covers key performance indicators, developing dashboards, and risk indicators. There is also information on value for money, market opportunity, and additional resources. It’s useful for a variety of stakeholders, including journalists, oversight authorities, and independent review teams.
The updated Data Publication Manual focuses on strengthening processes for publishing data in timely, reliable ways for anyone interested in these processes. This document supports readers in sharing data through publicly accessible channels using CoST’s international data standards. Information includes using existing CoST resources, public-private sector partnerships, our new sustainability and climate finance modules, and water-related data points. Several tools are provided, such as examples of mandates, worksheets, and tools to map processes and support stakeholders.
This accompanies existing work that CoST has done on data publication, including the creation of tools and standards, and supporting members around the world in publishing independent reviews of infrastructure data. Evaluating the publication of data is also supported through one of the pillars of the Infrastructure Transparency Index.
