New CoST Webinar: Powering up transparency and integrity in the Energy Sector – Insights from Zambia

On Tuesday 23rd June at 12.00 BST (13.00 CAT) we are hosting a webinar as part of London Climate Week. Sign up to join the webinar

The purpose of this virtual webinar is to share insights we have learned from examining integrity, performance, and disclosure risks across Zambia’s energy investment lifecycle, to start a broader global discussion on what meaningful transparency in the energy sector should look like and how it can be achieved through open data.

As countries race to secure cleaner, more resilient energy systems, investment in energy infrastructure is accelerating rapidly, with capital flows to the energy sector set to rise in 2025 to USD 3.3 trillion. Yet alongside this growth comes increasing pressure to ensure that energy investments are transparent, accountable, financially sustainable, and capable of delivering reliable power in practice. Zambia’s energy sector reflects many of the challenges shaping energy transitions globally.

Speakers at the webinar include:

  • Tim Bushnell, Infrastructure and Private Sector Development Adviser, British High Commission Lusaka, Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office
  • Soren Jensen, Strategic Adviser, CoST
  • Emmanuel Mumba, Researcher, Centre for Policy Trade and Development (CPTD), Zambia
  • Rushaiya Ibrahim-Tanko, Global Policy Director, Energy for Growth Hub.

There will also be an opportunity to ask the panel questions and share your own experiences and perspectives.

We recommend this virtual event to anyone currently working in, or interested in, the energy sector – including governments, procuring entities, investors, development partners, the private sector and civil society; as well as those working in advancing integrity at a global, national or sub-national scale. Whilst this webinar will use the findings of our work in Zambia to start the conversation, the discussion and learning is relevant for a global audience.
