Join us for “Opening up Climate Finance to Public Scrutiny”

With COP27 fast approaching, a critical barrier to tackling the climate emergency is high income countries delivering on their commitment to contribute $100 billion to help emerging economies adapt to climate change and deliver low carbon, resilient infrastructure.

However, considering a third of global infrastructure investment is lost through inefficiencies, the huge sums involved are likely to increase the risk of some of this finance leaking through mismanagement and corruption. The UN Independent Expert Report on Climate Finance has highlighted the importance of data and transparency to clearly track and count what is climate finance.

Working with our partner Engineers Against Poverty we have brought together a panel of experts for this discussion that includes:

  • Chairing the session is Prof Priti Parikh, EAP Board Member and Acting Head of the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, University College London
  • Prof Richard Calland, Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership and Co-Chair Independent Expert Group on Climate Finance
  • Mr. Albert Lihalakha, Deputy Head of the Independent Integrity Unit, Green Climate Fund
  • Pamela Acheng, Lecture in Civil Engineering, Makerere University, Uganda

The discussion will include:

  • The importance of mainstreaming climate finance and the solutions
  • Climate justice and existing inequities
  • What should happen at COP27 and how this differs to COP26

There will be a Spanish interpreter at this event. This webinar is free for all to join, and takes place from 1pm-2.20pm GMT. There will also be a Q&A for attendees. Sign up here to join us.
